"Chace's victory over Budlong tied the score with both Hovey and Budlong (6-1). It was decided to draw lots to see which two of three were entitled to contest for final honors. Chace drew a blank and Hovey and Budlong played off for first and second prizes. The former won, gaining the match and the tournament. Points, first set, 25-8; games 6-1.
