Death of Louis G.H. Saxon

Tennis players throughout Australia will receive with regret the announcement of the death of ‘Lou’ Saxon, who was attacked with acute pnemonia, and died suddenly at Mont Albert on Sunday. Deceased, who was 31 years of age, was one of the most popular figures in lawn tennis circles. He was compelled to retire from first-class tennis in 1905, under doctor’s orders.

He represented victoria in inter-state matches against both New South Wales and South Australia, and was a prominent member of the Melbourne Cricket Club (M.C.C.) premiership team for several years. His list of achievements in championship tennis includes the singles and doubles championship of Western Australia, in 1902; the doubles championship of South Australia, with Rodney Heath, in 1904; and the Grace Park metropolitan doubles championship, with Alfred W. Dunlop, in 1903.
