Although Alfred E. Plummer was born in Ireland, his paternal ancestors came from England. Some of the family emigrated to Canada in the mid-nineteenth century. Alfred E. Plummer was a business manager and accountant.

Plummer, Alfred Edwin, business manager, is the son of the late William Plummer, M.E., sometime Commissioner of Indian Lands in Canada. Born in Ireland, Alfred E. Plummer was educated at Upper Canada College, Toronto, and commenced his business career, August 1874, in the Federal Bank of Canada, where he remained till 1888, having occupied the position of Inspector for some four years before leaving.

In the latter year, on the organization of the Trusts Corporation of Ontario, he was appointed to the managership, a position he still retains. In religious belief he is an Anglican. He married, 1887, Alice Ethel Fane, youngest daughter of the late Henry C.R. Becher, Q.C., London, Ontario.
