About

One of the millions of german refugees from Silesia,he settled down in Lower Saxony after the war.There he developed into a middle-class tennis player.
His tennis career climaxed in 1951 and 1952 when he was ranked No.31(1951) and No.27 (1952) in the National German Rankings.Already during his amateur career he became a sports journalist,specializing in tennis.He was a regular contributor of Deutsche Tennis Zeitung in the 50ies and 60ies.In 1963 he became Editor-in-Chief of this tennis publication,a position held until his death. He was one of the leading tennis writers in Germany,very outspoken and not in favour of the commercialism which followed open tennis.His death was caused by a heart attack during a tennis match.
