On 15 February 1909, in Chicago, Charles N. Beard married fellow lawn tennis player Edythe Parker. In 1900, she had notably won the women’s doubles event at the U.S. Championships with Hallie Champlin, and was runner-up to Myrtle McAteer in the women’s singles final at the same tournament in the same year.
