Albert L. Hoskins notably won the mixed doubles event at the U.S. Championships in 1899 with Elizabeth Rastall; in the final they beat Jane Craven and James P. Gardner after the latter pair retired with the score 6-4, 8-6 in favour of Hoskins and Rastall (at that time the final match in the mixed doubles event at the U.S. Championships was played over the best of five sets).
