Report In this year the Eisenbahnverein auf der Uhlenhorst staged two Gentlemens Singles competitions,the Championships of Hamburg,an international event
which had already been held in 1891,and the Championships of Germany as an event which could only be entered by german and austrian citizens.When both competitions started on 27.VIII,1892 the first signs of a cholera epidemy were already visible in the city.As the death toll grew in the following days
many of the foreign guests took their leave and play had to be abandoned for some days.When the tournament finally ended on 20.IX.1892 Walter Bonne
emerged as winner of both singles competitions.In the meantime the cholera had devastated the entire city and killed at least 8605 people.
