Info In 1909, two of the semi-finalists in the men’s singles event for the Coupe de La Primrose, Daniel Lawton and Allen Muhr, withdrew from the event before playing their semi-final match against each other. This left the two other semi-finalists – Max Decugis and Jean Samazeuilh – to play each other. However, after the withdrawal of Lawton and Muhr, it was decided to make the outstanding semi-final the final and to award the Coupe de la Primrose to its winner. This turned out to be Max Decugis, who defeated Jean Samazeuilh in four sets.
