Info From "Pastime", April 3, 1895: "Among the harbingers of spring must be numbered the Covered Court Championship meeting, held annually in March or April at the Queen's Club. The present occasion is the sixth since its institution in 1890, and it is marked by one novel feature – the holding of the [men's] singles championship. The Hyde Park Court has hitherto been the scene of this event, which was founded in the year 1885. In those days the Hyde Park court was the only covered court existing which had specifically been built for the practice of the genre, and consequently the meeting attracted good and fairly numerous entries.

"Since the erection of the Queen's Club courts, however, players have to some extent forsaken their old haunt, and in consequence the entries at Hyde Park have for some years past been very meagre – in quantity at all events. The Hyde Park authorities have undoubtedly acted wisely in negotiating with the Queen's Club for the transfer to the latter of the single championship and challenge cup, which will be therefore this year be played for for the first time in the West Kensington courts."
