There probably was no tournament in 1923 because of the hyper inflation in Germany and the occupation of the Ruhr area by the French Army.
For the men`s singles competiton a Gold Cup was donated in 1912 which was won for the third time by Eberhard Nourney in 1935.
In the following year he himself donated another trophy the so called Nourney Cup.This Trophy was given to the champion of the
1936-1939 and 1949-1978 editions.
