Info The Final Tournament of the National Grand Prix Series had the sponsor title FISCHER CUP and offered prize money of DM 30.000.

In 1978 the National Grand Prix Series consisted of 27 tournaments and the Grand Prix Masters. The 27 tournaments were Lauf, Rheine, Hamburg Whitsun, Bielefeld, Karlstadt,Starnberg, Waldau Stuttgart, Einbeck, Neunkirchen, Ratzeburg, German Under 23Chps, Wesseling, Grunewald, Erlangen, Travemünde, Ulm, Unterhaching,
Hanover, Frankfurt, Three Rivers Tt., Neumünster, Bad Kissingen, German National Chps Qualification, Hittfeld, Ingolstadt, German National Chps and its Consolation
Round.
The Final Standings of the Grand Prix was: 1.H.Seuss 102 Pts, 2.Attila Korpas 100 ,3.Birger Andersson 92, 4.M.Wunschig 88, 5.L.Steinhöfel 86, 6.H.Elschenbroich 76, 7.K.Eberhard 72, 8.G.Battrick 70, 9.B.Carmichael and A.Maurer 60.
Andersson, Battrick and Carmichael were not qualified for the Masters as foreign citizens. Eberhard and Maurer did not take part in at least 4 tournaments or were injured.
