George Horatio Charles Cholmondeley was a wealthy landowner with great property in Cheshire and Norfolk.Immediately after his birth he was known as
Viscout Malpas (1883-1884).Since his father became Marquess of Cholmondeley he was styled Earl of Rocksavage (1884-1923).In 1923 he succeeded as
5th Marquess of Cholmondeley,Earl of Rocksavage (UK 1815), 8th Earl of Cholmondeley,Viscount Malpas (E 1706), 9th Viscount Cholmondeley of Kells (I 1661),
8th Baron Cholmondeley of Namptwich (E 1689), 7th Baron Newborough of Newborough (I 1715) and 7th Baron Newburgh (GB 1716).As Lord Great Chamberlain of England during the short reign of Edward VIII. and from 1952 to 1966 he also served as one of the Great Officers of State. He also was a Member of the House of Lords.
