Percy A. Vaile was a barrister, journalist and author, and today is remembered for having written several books about lawn tennis and golf, including The Strokes and Science of Lawn Tennis (1910), The Soul of Golf (1912) and Modern Tennis (1915).
Vaile was born in New Zealand where in 1888 he married Gertrude Elmsly. They had four children together: two sons and two daughters. By 1911, Vaile was living in London, England. He appears to have lived in the USA in later life.
