About

Mr. Hickman was born on December 3, 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana to P.V. and Lee Hickman. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio and in 1944 received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. As a member of the UT varsity tennis team, he won the Southwest Conference singles championship three times, and the Southwest Conference doubles championship twice. In 1943 and 1944, he twice won the NCAA doubles championship with partners Walter Driver and Felix Kelley. Mr. Hickman was also an accomplished pianist.

He was commissioned a lieutenant in the United States Army and served in Japan during World War II.
He married Mildred Louise Smith in August of 1949. They have two children, John Stephen Hickman of Friendswood, TX and Susan Diane Hickman Eubank of Whitney, TX. Mr.

Hickman is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harry Odell Hickman, formerly of Denver, Colorado.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by daughter-in-law Kayla Prince Hickman, son-in-law Steven Kent Eubank, grandchildren Kelly Diane Hickman, Kristi Ann Hickman, Steven Carter Eubank, and Cameron Michael Eubank.
