Although he himself didn’t play much lawn tennis, Count Oskar von der Schulenburg had a tennis court laid out on his estate in the city of Magdeburg, in central Germany. His first wife, Countess Clara von der Schulenburg (née von Kusenberg; 1874-1951), is said to have used this court to her advantage to make herself into one of the best of the early female German lawn tennis players. The two players married each other in 1895, but divorced in 1906.
