About

A medical doctor/surgeon by profession.From the internet: Took B.A. degree at Stellenbosch Victoria College. Taught at Heidelberg, Transvaal, for a year, then his godfather Christiaan Marais lent him the money to study medicine in Edinburgh. He practiced medicine in Claremont (Cape Town) and lived at Kingsbury (now a private hospital) when newly married and later in Grove Road. He was in partnership with Dr Louise Beck. When war broke out he was sent to Roberts Heights (Voortrekker Hoogte) and then stayed in Pretoria and practiced as a surgeon. He died at 56 from kidney failure due to high blood pressure.
