Entered the French Navy in 1915 and rose gradually through the ranks. Appointed Knight of the Legion of Honour. Interned in Turkey for a time during World War II. Took part in the Championnats Militaires de Tennis, a championship tournament open to members of the French armed forces, at least once, in 1931, when the tournament was held at the Racing Club de Paris.
