In the years 1899 to 1901, Paul Mengin-Lecreulx attended the École Militaire de Saint-Cyr/Special Military School in Saint-Cyr, the most renowned French military academy, located in the commune of Guer in Brittany. He subsequently became an infantry officer and a battalion head, and was later made a Knight of the Legion of Honour.
