André Licthenberger was a historian who specialized in the area of socialism, and an essayist and novelist, notably known for his works written for children, especially Mon petit Trott, first published in 1898, and its sequels. André Lichtenberger also wrote the book Le Tennis: notes, méditations, souvenirs, which was first published in 1914. He was the brother of the renowned French academic Henri Lichtenberger (1864-1941), who specialized in German literature.
