René Gallèpe was the son of Bernard Gallèpe and Marie-Louise Gallèpe (née Créput). Bernard Gallèpe was a French civil servant who met his future wife while working for the French administration in Tunisia in the 1890s. Bernard Gallèpe was later transferred to Monaco where he became a Conseil d’état. René Gallèpe had one sibling, a brother called Paul, who was killed in action during World War One while fighting with the French Army in Macedonia.
