About

He came from a family not particularly wealthy to be a member of the OAA, he was the son of Dimitrios and Kalomira Kalyvas. He initially found himself in the Athens Tennis Club as a worker, a child who collected balls from the court (Ballboys), and at the same time he practiced tennis and when his talent was recognized he became a member of the club[1].

He was Greek champion in men's singles in 1957[2], 1958[3], 1959[4], 1960[5], and 1961[6], second in 1962[7], 1963[8], 1964[9], 1965[10] and 1974[11]. In men's doubles he was first in 1956[12], and 1957[2] with teammate Stavros Panagopoulos, in 1961[6] with teammate Dimitrios Kanellopoulos, in 1962[7] and 1967[13] with teammate Nikos Kalogeropoulos. He was second in 1958[3], 1960[5], 1964[9], and 1969[14]. In the mixed doubles he was second in 1960 with teammate Xanthippi Vasiliadou[5].

He participated in all the major Greek tournaments of the time, winning first and second places. He was a member of the national team in the Davis Cups of 1963, 1964, 1965, and 1966[1]. In 1978 he took over the coaching of Dionysia Panagopoulou and Angeliki Kanellopoulou[15].

In his personal life he worked in the textile industry while also being involved in silversmithing[15]. In 1963 he married Marianna Fermeli and they had two sons.[15] After his death, the OAA organized tournaments in his memory.
