Baldwin, Linton Harrison, 85, died at his home in Manhattan on June 17, 2012. Linton was an accomplished sportswriter, novelist, tennis player and advertising copywriter. A graduate of Yale University, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Linton worked for the New York Daily News and the New York Daily Mirror, was a director on the television show “Captain Video” and was a copywriter for several advertising agencies, including Young & Rubicam, before becoming a freelance sportswriter. His work appeared in numerous magazines, including Sports Illustrated, Boxing Magazine and The Racquet. His novel, “Sinners Game”, was published in 1954.

An avid tennis player, Linton was Eastern Private Schools singles champion at Poly Prep in 1944, was ranked No. 1 in Eastern Junior doubles with William Tully in 1945, and was the first freshman to play the No. 1 spot on the Yale Varsity tennis team in 1946. He was also captain of the Yale cross country team.

Linton was a member of the Boxing Writers Association of America, the U.S. Tennis Writers’ Association, the River Club and the Yale Club. He is survived by his wife, Karen Lane; stepdaughters Robin, Tracy, Anja and Petra; sister Joanne.
