He played Davis Cup for Austria before and after the second world war.He also was elected to play for the german team in 1939 after the annexation of Austria in the spring of 1938.In the war he served in the Wehrmacht and was severly wounded.Although he had lost one arm,he had the spirit to overcome his handicap:he managed to reach the 4th Round Of Wimbledon in 1947.
