About

He was born in Egypt and was the son of Georgios Zerlentis, an immigrant from Syros, and Eleni Agelastou, and a brother named Stefanos is mentioned. He studied at the Greek school of Alexandria and then at a French school, then he attended Oxford University, where he first became involved in sports and was specifically an athlete in football, rowing, swimming and water polo before taking up tennis.

In 1907 he returned to Alexandria and joined the "Cricket Club" club, which also had a tennis section. In 1910 he took part for the first time in official competitions in Egypt

Later he became an athlete of the Athens Olympic Club, Panhellenic champion from 1921 to 1931, and Balkan champion, he had represented the Greek colors in international meetings such as the Davis Cup or smaller meetings such as the Cairo International Games where he was first in the singles in 1931 and 1934.

He had participated in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp and the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris without distinguishing himself. In Antwerp he had been eliminated in the first round by the Englishman Gordon with 3-2 in a match that lasted over seven hours.

In the Davis Cup matches, he had represented the Greek colors in 1927 in Greece's first participation in the tournament. Greece was eliminated in the first round by Czechoslovakia, where Zerlentis - Zachos had 4 losses and one win, which Zerlentis made. In 1928, Greece was eliminated by Germany with 4-1, with Zerlentis again scoring the only victory. In 1929, against Yugoslavia, the Greek team qualified for the second round for the first time. Zerlentis scored 2 wins in singles and one in doubles, his teammates were Efstratiadis and Georgiadis. In the second round in Stockholm with Sweden, only Zerlentis scored a victory in singles over Uhrich.

In 1930 the Greek team was eliminated by the British Indies with the only successes being the two victories of Zerlentis. In 1931 Greece eliminated Austria in the first round with 2 victories for Zerlentis, in the second round they lost to Czechoslovakia without Zerlentis scoring a victory. In 1932 they faced Japan where they defeated the Greek team 5-0, Zerlentis' teammate was Garatziotis.
