Leslie Oswyn Poidevin was the son of fellow lawn tennis player Leslie Oswald Poidevin. Adapted from the internet: In 1938, aged 24, Leslie Oswyn Poidevin graduated from The University of Sydney, gaining his degrees (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from the Sydney Medical School. During World War Two, between 1941 and 1945, Leslie served in the Australian Army with the 2/12 Field Ambulance. He enlisted at Scone, New South Wales, on 19 June 1941; his service number was NX71114 (N104635). He later attained the rank of captain.
