Very active and much in demand as a pitcher with numerous semi-pro baseball teams through most of the 1890's, while also attending Columbia University and pitching for the university team. Leo Fishel made it to the big leagues pitching one game for the New York Giants in 1899. (A complete game loss against the Phillies.)
