About

Richard Cohen was a graduate of Xavier University in Louisiana, where he was a teammate of fellow tennis player Jimmie McDaniel. Cohen later studied medicine, qualifying as a doctor. He won the men’s doubles title at the American Tennis Association (ATA) Championships in 1939 and 1941, both times with McDaniel.

When Donald Budge visited the Cosmopolitan Tennis Club in New York City in 1940, he played a singles match against Jimmie McDaniel and, together with Dr Reginald Weir, a doubles match against Richard Cohen and McDaniel.
