Donald Leahong was the brother of fellow tennis player Bertrand Leahong.

Donald Leahong attended Wolmer’s Boys’ School in Kingston, Jamaica, and was on the school’s cricket team and also a member of the Manning Cup soccer team. He later became a solicitor.

Donald Leahong was men’s singles champion of Jamaica seven times in the 1930s. He also played at Wimbledon and won the Central America and Caribbean Games in Panama in 1938. Furthermore, he was captain of the West Indies Davis Cup team. Later he became a golf enthusiast.

He practiced law for many years in Jamaica, having been admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Judicature Jamaica. In later life he lived in Miami, Florida. Donald Leahong was the devoted husband of Mavis, beloved father of Donna Chung (Patrick), Nancy (Ken Krich), Donald (Martha) and granddaughter Kristina Leahong.
