Howard Joseph Minnis, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Wednesday afternoon, July 7, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maude Patricia Minnis; son, Anthony Minnis; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jerome Brazier-Carter; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Allyson Minnis; and grandchildren, Tyler, Tysyn and Ryann Brazier-Carter and Morgan Minnis.
Minnis was a retired professor at Southern University where he taught for 52 years. If you didn't see him in the classroom, you would find him on the tennis courts. He was a member of the Latin Liturgy and graduate of Tuskegee University and Columbia University. Minnis served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
