Arthur Carvosso attended Brisbane Grammar School before going on to the University of Queensland, where he attained a B.A. in the early 1880s. In the years 1884 to 1888 he worked as a science teacher at Brisbane Grammar School before deciding to study medicine at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. During his time abroad (circa 1889-94), he took part in several lawn tennis tournaments both in Scotland and England.

After qualifying as a doctor, Carvosso returned to Brisbane in 1894, where he worked as a general practitioner. He was also for many years an active member of the Brisbane Grammar School Old Boys’ Association committee. He died in his native Queensland in October 1960 at the age of 98.
