Ralph Abercromby Galton left home age 11 as a pupil under the Rector of Hadzor at Oddingley, Worcestershire, two miles from Hadzor House. He lived in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) for several years, was married and started a family there, returning to England between 1899 and 1911. His Ceylon Will described his address as Queensland Estate, Maskeylia, Ceylon, a tea plantation created in the 1880s.
