This drawing of District Inspector Kerry Supple was one of the illustrations in “Sport’s” account of the Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) annual sports day in 1898, in its 24th September 1898 edition. The newspaper stated that: ‘By far the most energetic officials were Captain Daly and District Inspector Supple. They are both good sportsmen and ex-athletes, although perhaps Kerry Supple might object to the “ex,” as he is still an ardent active advocate of athletics.’ Supple joined the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) in 1883 and retired in 1921 with the rank of county inspector.
