Samuel Bostock attended Haileybury College before going up to Cambridge University. During his time at Cambridge, he took part in the annual ‘Varsity lawn tennis matches pitting players from Cambridge against Oxford University. He later qualified as a barrister, but did not practice.

Bostock, Samuel. Admitted pensioner, at Trinity, June 14, 1886. 2nd son of Samuel, of The Hermitage, Walton Heath, near Epsom, Surrey. School, Haileybury. Matriculated Michaelmas. 1886; B.A. 1889. Admitted at the Inner Temple, June 22, 1887. Called to the Bar, 1890. Never practised. Lord of the Manor of Sparsholt, near Winchester. Justice of the Piece for Hampshire, 1906. Married and had issue. Died May 9, 1938, aged 69. Buried at Sparsholt.
