From The Shetland Times, 21 October 1905:

Death of Lord Inverclyde

Lord Inverclyde passed away at his residence, Castle Wemyss, on the Firth of Clyde, on Sunday afternoon. His lordship had a sharp attack of pleuro-pneumonia some weeks ago, and his condition became so serious that an operation had to be performed on Friday last.

George Arbuthnot Burns was the second Baron and Baronet. He was born in September 1861 and succeeded to the title in 1901. Lord Inverclyde was a justice of the peace for Lanarkshire, and a justice of the peace and deputy-lieutenant of the County of the City of Glasgow.

He was Lord Dean of Guild of the City of Glasgow from 19G3 to 1904, and was well known as the chairman of the Cunard Steamship Company Limited, his grandfather having been one of the originators of that line of steamers. Deceased was also a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron. He is succeeded in the title by his brother, the Honourable James Cleland Burns.
