William E. Milne, a son of Dr. William J. and Eliza J. (Gates) Milne received his secondary education at the State Normal College, Albany, NY. Next he joined the class of 1895 of Union College but had to withdraw before finishing his first year because of ill health. The following year, he enrolled with the Class of 1896 at Amherst College. Upon graduation he next studied law at Harvard Law School (1986-1897). After two years at Columbia University Law School (1898-1900), he began practicing law in New York City. On June 15, 1899 he married Miss Marion S. Blake, a daughter of Clinton H. Blake. Mr. Milne was a member of the firm Milne, Blake & McAneny at the time of his death.
He died at his home in Englewood, NJ, of an embolism. His wife survived him. They had no children.
