About

In 1892 received an engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. After an earlier partnership dissolved, in 1909 Ludlow partnered with Charles S. Peabody (1880-1935) who had graduated from Harvard in 1903, and in 1908 from Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. The firm, which lasted into the 1930s, was responsible for several hundred designs, including many New York City churches and several skyscrapers. But its beginnings depended upon two college campus designs: Sheldon Jackson College (now dissolved) in Sitka, Alaska (1910-11); and George Peabody College (now part of Vanderbilt University) (1911-14).
