Riordon (Rod) William McNerney, passed away peacefully August 17, 2021 at his daughter's farm in Oldham County, Ky. He was born on November 15, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Rod was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Barker McNerney, his parents, Jerome and Lillian Carey McNerney, his sister, Maureen McNerney Nichols, and his nephew, Jonathan Nichols.

He is survived by his two daughters Lauren Stinnett (Darin) and Kristen Tincher (Scott); his two sons, Justin Schad (Ashley) of Nashville, Tennessee and Gavin McNerney; and by his five grandchildren Tyler, Samantha and Alexandra Stinnett, and Hadley and Amelia Tincher, whom he was known as Granddaddy. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Donovan of Phoenix Arizona, his brother, Michael McNerney, and by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Rod was a graduate of Flaget High School and Indiana University, Bloomington.
During his life Rod accomplished many things as a businessman, civic leader, mentor, athlete and above all he exhibited an unwavering commitment to his family throughout his entire life even up until his final hours. His children will always cherish his loving support and the endless wisdom he provided. They feel comfort knowing he's now with the love of his life, their mother, Esther.
Most recently, he served as President of Futurity Investment Group, LLC, a private equity company which he co-founded, and as a director of several of its portfolio companies including Omega National Products. Before forming Futurity, he served as President of McBar Medical Industries, which he also co-founded, and several of its subsidiary companies. Previously, Rod spent over twenty years in the banking industry with Bankers Trust Company in New York and with Citizens Fidelity Bank and one year with Holiday Inns in Memphis, Tennessee.
Over the years, Rod was active in various civic, charitable and social institutions including Greater Louisville, Inc., Greater Louisville Manufacturing Network, Kentucky World Trade Center, The Venture Club of Louisville, CASA, Bellarmine University Historical Society, Cabinet for Families and Children, St. Joseph Children's Home, St. James Church, the Pyramid Trust and the Louisville Boat Club.
In his earlier years, Rod was an accomplished athlete. He is a member of the Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame, remains the youngest player ever to win the Fall's City Singles Championships, was a Big Ten Singles and Doubles Champion, an NCAA doubles semi-finalist, captain and member of the All Services Championship team, member of USTA 4.5 Senior National Championships team and was an instructor and coach at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also was a two time Kentucky State Squash Singles champion and a two time Canadian National Platform Tennis Doubles champion. Additionally, he was a member of Flaget's 1960 State Basketball Championship team. In recent years, Rod continued working full-time, and enjoyed reading and attending his grandchildren's school and athletic functions. His many friends and colleagues around the world will greatly miss his genuine kindness, extraordinary work ethic and trustworthiness.
