Leonard Wrigley was an insurance broker by profession and the brother of fellow lawn tennis player Ormond Wrigley. During World War I, Leonard Wrigley attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with the 9th Battalion (Territorial) of the Manchester Regiment of the British Army. He was killed in action in Flanders, Belgium, in October 1917 at the age of 31.
