Obituary – Former noted Scottish tennis player
Mr Alexander Henderson Glendinning, Over Cassock, Eskdalemuir, a noted Scottish tennis player, whose death has occurred, was 60 years of age. He won many singles trophies in open competition, and in 1913 he reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon tournament.
A banker by profession, Mr Glendinning was for many years in the service of the National Bank of India in India and in East Africa. During the last war he was a major in the King’s African Rifles and served throughout the East African campaign. He had been an officer in the Home Guard since its formation. He was unmarried.
