About

A merchant by profession, Albert Morganstern was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in March 1856, the son of German immigrants to the USA. In later life he spent a good deal of time in Europe, particularly on the French Riviera and in Switzerland, where he took part in several lawn tennis tournaments in the years 1896-1902.

In 1887, Morganstern married Florence Comfort Cohen in Manhattan, New York City. They had two children: a daughter called Constance (b. 1888) and a son called Lewis, who was born in Nice, France, in 1895.
