Thomas Andrews Nixon, Sr., was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 14, 1921 to Dr. Patrick Ireland Nixon, Sr. and Olive Read Nixon. Thomas and his twin, Benjamin Oliver Nixon, were the younger brothers of Dr. Patrick Ireland Nixon, Jr., and Dr. Robert Read Nixon. Tom (as he was known by most of his friends) passed from this life to his heavenly home on February 20, 2014 at 93.

Tom lived his entire life in San Antonio except for the years 1942 through 1946 when he proudly served his country during WW II in the Pacific. He was a member of the Marine Bombing Squadron 611 and his main job was keeping those airplanes in the air-and he did his job well! World War II had a major impact on Tom’s life and one of his greatest pleasures in life was sharing his war stories with others. As some have said, he was a walking history book.

After the war, he began his career as a dairy farmer on the family farm, known as Fairland Hills Farm, on Bandera Highway. In 1963, Tom started working at Trinity University, where he worked for fifty years until he retired in July 2013 at 92. While working at Trinity, Tom made many friends and became known as “the man who could fix just about anything”. Tom loved people, his family and friends and was always there to help when someone was in need!

A man of much integrity, his work ethic was unquestionable, and he never gave up on people or projects! He was not a quitter, he was a winner all the way around! As he was quick to say: “Whatever it takes!” As much as Tom loved to work and be productive, he also loved to play! His love of tennis was a lifelong passion beginning as a child and continuing into his 80's. With a variety of friends and family over the years he also enjoyed fishing, boating, sailing and hunting.

A man easy to love and hard to forget, he will be missed by many!
