George Rudkin was the brother of fellow lawn tennis player Hugh Rudkin. George was educated at Blundell’s School, Devon, and Oxford University, where he obtained honours in classical and mathematical moderations and was a member of the ‘varsity lawn tennis team. He passed the Indian Civil Service Examination in 1902 and later held various positions in the East India Company in British India. In 1919, he was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.), and in 1925 a Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.). He died of a heart attack at the age of 50.
