Higher education. Graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture named after V.I. P. Lesgaft (1955).

He started playing tennis at the age of 15 on the courts of the "Spartak" sports club. Master of Sports of the USSR (1961). He was one of the "twenty" strongest players in the USSR (1960-61). Multiple winner and medalist of the Leningrad championships.

One of the best coaches in Leningrad-St. Petersburg. Among the students: S. Bury, M. Gorbunov, I. Dzhelepov, I. Kornienko, A. Kuznetsov, V. Sadkov, M. Manaenkov.
