About

He became a student from Ordrup Gymnasium in 1938 and then graduated as a civil engineer with a degree in 1942 from the Technical University of Denmark.

He was married 4 November 1944 in Ordrup Church to Lizzi Astrup (born 23 July 1923 in Hamburg, died 22 January 2012), with whom he had two daughters and two sons.

He died on 3 November 2006 and is buried in Gentofte Cemetery.

BUSINESS CAREER
Ipsen founded one of Denmark's largest players in concrete elements, Spændcom. The prerequisite for designing with prestressed concrete was that prestressing of structures cast on site and delivery of reinforced concrete elements could take place in Denmark. After a study trip to France and Switzerland, he was the first in Denmark to introduce prestressed concrete in 1947 and made possible the technology that has since been the breeding ground for the expansion of Danish concrete element construction.

He has since been director and chairman of the board of A / S Skandinavisk Spændbeton for many years.

TENNIS CAREER
In the sports field, Ipsen excelled as an elite tennis player for Hellerup Idræts Klub (tennis).

In 1942, he received the international match pin, which is awarded to the players who play representative matches for the Danish Tennis Association.

In the years 1943-1950 he won ten individual Danish championships - 1 in men's singles, 4 in men's doubles and 5 in mixed doubles.
