About

Frank Jarvis was from a family of builders in the East End of London and, together with his brother Ernest, helped develop the business. In the early decades of the twentieth century their company continued to develop land and properties, in particular in the town of Harpenden in Hertfordshire. Frank Jarvis served in the Pigeons Corps of the British Army during World War One and himself later became a champion breeder of pigeons. In addition to lawn tennis, his other sporting interests included golf, hockey and, during frequent stays in Switzerland, where he would die in 1962, curling and skating.
