About

In addition to being a top tennis player, Engelbert Koch was also a gifted football player. He started his football career with the Preußen Münster team before switching to the Berlin-based team Hertha BSC in 1940. He played regularly for the latter team during World War Two. After the war he returned to Münster, where he once again joined the Preußen Münster team. In 1949, he switched to the SC West Köln team in Cologne, where he also played for VfL Köln and, finally, Fortuna Köln. He ended his football career in 1953 with the last-named team.
