Andrew McMorran was the son of Robert McMorran, a medical doctor and native of County Monaghan, Ireland, and Sarah Elizabeth McMorran (née Mullally), who was from Dublin, Ireland. In later life Andrew McMorran lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He notably won the men’s singles event at the River Plate Championships in Buenos Aires in 1889, and was runner-up six times in the same event at the same tournament between 1900 and 1907.
