About

Edmond Bennet Brackenbury was born in 1843 in the market town of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. He was the son of Bennet Brackenbury, a solicitor and native of Spilsby in Lincolnshire, and Alice Brackenbury (née Sooby), who was also from Gainsborough.

Edmond Brackenbury attended Oxford University and later took holy orders. On 2 January 1868, he married Elizabeth Holmes, who was from the suburb of Westbury-on-Trym in Gloucestershire. They had six children together: three sons and three daughters.

In 1873, Edmond Brackenbury helped found Saugeen School, a preparatory school located in Bournemouth, Dorset. He had a close association with the school for the rest of his life. For more on Reverend Edmond Bennet Brackenbury and this school, see here:
