About

He was a Dutch tennis player. He played at Wimbledon in 1938, where he lost to Mohammed Khan. He was also a resistance fighter during the Second World War. He was parachuted together with the agent Meint Adolf Smid (1921-1984) in the area of Driebergen-Leersum on the night of 7-8 August 1944. He worked as a radio operator / codist for the Bureau of Intelligence (BI). He was tasked to coordinate the Dutch resistance. His radio station was surveyed. He was arrested on October 14, 1944 by the Sicherheitsdienst (SD). He was killed on May 4, 1945 in a bombing by the Allies on the passenger ship “Cap Arcona”.
