A lawyer, economist and politician, Stanislaw Menda was notably Polish Minister of Shipping from 1956 to 1964 (from 1957 to 1960 Polish Minister of Shipping and Water Management).

He later changed his name to Darski. He applied to the tournament as a player of Zoppoter Lawn-Tennis Club; It is not sure if he was a Polish citizen at the time.
